FAITH
What is Faith? All throughout my life I was always a little bit confused by what exactly faith is and I still learn more everyday. The bible states in Hebrews 11:1 that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. We cannot see faith nor can we ever physically hold our faith. Faith is something that is hard for us as humans to understand completely. However, we cannot obtain faith on our own because “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. We can try to obtain faith as much as we want but we cannot get faith through ourselves or by anything we do. Faith can only come by hearing the word of God! Our faith is from God.
We cannot do anything by ourselves and in Philippians 4:13 the bible says “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”. God has the power to do all and his wonderful power is able to help us but we must go THROUGH Christ because without Jesus we are just Sinners and are nothing. Christ did it all for us and he created a connection to God for us through his blood. God loved us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to quicken us together with Christ even thought we were dead in sins. God had so much love towards you that he allowed his Son to die on the Cross for your sins. We can’t forgive ourselves of our sins nor can we make it into Heaven on our own. Christ is the only way and God has already done his part. All that is left is our part. Faith is not something that we can obtain because we want to have it but it is from God and Christ.
It is possible to gain worldly faith on our own. We can have faith that the sun will rise in the morning but our faith in the world isn’t worth anything. Worldly faith isn’t anything to God but true faith isn’t something that can be obtained through ourselves. Christ made it possible for us to do all things and that includes having faith. Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”, God saves you through faith and not by anything you can do. When a person gets born again (saved) God allows a person to gain faith through his word. Faith comes from his word and believing in what his word says. No one today has ever seen God or Jesus but once a person is born again and saved they gain faith. They believe in Jesus and they believe in God and they know that everything is the word of God is true even if they haven’t seen any of it happen.
We also cannot maintain our faith on our own either. Just like we cannot take two steps without Christ we also cannot keep our faith without Christ. We must lean on him and trust in him daily. We must take up our cross daily for him and follow God’s will. Christ didn’t just die for a couple of people but he died for whosoever. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. I have hope in Christ and in God. I have hope that God has saved me by his grace through Jesus Christ my savior. I have my hope that when I die I will be in Heaven with my savior Jesus. The faith that I have in all these things is the evidence of the things that I have not seen. I have never seen Jesus nor God. I have never seen heaven nor did I see Jesus die on the Cross. However, I have the faith that it did happen and that only came from God through Christ. So do you have the faith through Christ Jesus? Jesus died for whosoever and the faith from God in Jesus is like no other. Please listen to your heart and follow God’s will.
